How much does a custom kitchen cost in Bali?

How kitchens are priced: per linear metre

Most Bali workshops price kitchens per linear metre (in Indonesian: per meter lari) — the length of the cabinet run measured along the wall. A price per metre usually includes the base cabinets and the wall cabinets above them. Tall units, islands, countertops, appliances and sinks are normally priced separately.

When comparing quotes, always check whether the price per metre includes wall units, interiors in the same finish, edge banding on all edges, hardware brand and installation.

Typical 2026 price ranges

Plywood carcass with HPL fronts: from around Rp 3.5–5 million per linear metre. This is the best-value, hard-wearing option for most villas and rentals.

Two-pack painted (duco) fronts: from around Rp 4.5–7 million per metre, for a seamless modern look in any colour.

Solid teak or teak veneer fronts: from around Rp 6–14 million per metre, depending on whether fronts are veneer or solid wood.

Kitchen islands start from about Rp 15 million; outdoor kitchens from about Rp 20 million. Stone tops typically add Rp 2.5–8 million per metre depending on the material.

What drives the cost up (or down)

Carcass material: marine plywood costs more than particle board or MDF but is essential in Bali's humidity.

Finish: HPL is the most economical; painted, veneer and solid timber cost progressively more.

Hardware: soft-close hinges, full-extension runners, corner carousels and lift-up mechanisms from quality brands add cost but transform daily use.

Complexity: curved panels, integrated handles, glass fronts and lots of drawers take more workshop time.

Where to save — and where not to

Save by choosing HPL for doors and fewer, wider drawers. Don't save on carcass material, edge sealing or hardware: these are what fail first in Bali.

Never accept particle board (chipboard) in a kitchen in Bali. It swells permanently the first time water gets in.
